About Playa Pimpin

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Playa Pimpin was a pioneering force in the Memphis hip-hop scene. Starting his career at just 13 years old with the release of his first mixtape in 1992, he quickly gained recognition for his raw talent and authentic storytelling. Over the years, he collaborated with notable artists such as Lil E, Blackout, Lil Slim, Juicy J, Lil Quick K, and many other Memphis legends, helping to shape the sound of Southern rap.

At age 17, in 1996, Playa Pimpin signed with DoctaTruProphecy’s Stacks Of Racks Records, marking a significant milestone in his career. His influence extended beyond his music, inspiring a new generation of artists from Memphis and beyond.

Tragically, Playa Pimpin’s life was cut short on November 2nd, 2011, when he was murdered by a gang member. His legacy lives on through his music and the impact he made on Memphis hip-hop.
