Phương Mỹ Chi was born on January 13th, 2003 in Hồ Chí Minh City, and is a Vietnamese singer-songwriter excelling in Vietnamese folk music. Phương grew up in a crowded house full of 14 people (though her immediate family consists of her parents and her sister).

Phương rose to fame as the runner up of the first season of Giọng Hát Việt Nhí (The Voice Kids Vietnam) (2013). Despite releasing digital singles throughout her childhood, she would finally release her first album in 2023, titled Vũ Trụ Cò Bay at the age of 20, signifying the change from a child singer to a young adult.

The album incorporated Vietnamese folk music alongside modern pop, which she had been experimenting with. It also consisted of two previously released tracks and eight brand new ones. It was produced by renown Vietnamese producer group DTAP and released under Warner Music Vietnam. Phương Mỹ Chi also heavily participated in the making of the album, as she wrote most of the songs alongside other songwriters.
