Phony Ppl is a musical group based in Brooklyn, New York, known for their genre-bending repertoire that fuses Neo-Soul, Funk, Jazz, R&B and Reggae.

Originally founded in 2010, the five members met in the Manhattan School of Music and in 2012 released their debut album Phonyland.

The current members of the group are Elbee Thrie (vocals), Elijah Rawk (lead guitar), Matt “Maffyuu” Byas (drums), Aja Grant (keyboard), and Bari Bass (bass guitar).

The band has received praise from the likes of Tyler The Creator and Childish Gambino, performed with Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and The Roots, have a song with Megan Thee Stallion and killed festivals, late night television.
Phony Ppl currenty own residency at New York City’s legendary Blue Note.
