Phillip Charles Western IV (August 12th, 1971 – February 4th, 2019) was a Canadian audio engineer and electronic music artist based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
His career started in 1992, working with Dwayne Goettel of Skinny Puppy doing keyboard work and forming Subconscious Records in 1993. After Dwayne’s death in 1995, Phil went on to partner with cEvin Key to form Canadian electronic groups Download and Plateau. Phil would also collaborate with various artists, such as Céline Dion, Bryan Adams, and Nine Inch Nails.
Phil was found dead of a suspected drug overdose in Vancouver. He was 47 years old at the time of death.
