About Peter La Farge

Peter La Farge was a folk singer-songwriter in the New York City folk scene of the 50s and 60s. Best known for his associations with Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, both of whom covered his songs, he wrote many songs concerning Native American political issues, issues that weren’t popular to write songs about at the time. Though he recorded six albums between 1962 and 1965, and was in 1965 planning another with MGM records, which he had recently been signed to, his career and life was cut short when he was found dead in his apartment in October of 1965 at age 34, having never achieved the fame of his peers.
