Pavlos Pavlidis is a musician, lyricist, and singer.
Born in Bremen, Germany on October 13, 1964, he grew up in Veria, Greece.
Between 1984 and 1988, he was a member of the band “Mora sti Fotia”.
In 1989, he travelled to Paris, where he set up the Studio Brancaleone with Nikos Kantaris. There he worked on what would become the album “Xessaloniki”.
In 1992, he founded the band Xylina Spathia, working as a singer, composer, and lyricist.
The band would go on to record five albums, touring Greece and around the world.
In 1998, Xylina Spathia appeared at the Rockwave Festival alongside such bands as Sonic Youth, and Pulp. That same year, they opened for the Rolling Stones at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.
Following the band’s break-up in 2003, and after releasing the solo album “Afou Loipon Xehastika” in 2004, he founded B-Movies. Together, they have released six albums and two 7” singles.
Since then, they have toured Greece and the world together, and have appeared at some of the country’s most major festivals.
In the summer of 2016, they performed at the STEREOLETO Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In the spring of 2016, he wrote the music for the performance “Beyond Collapse”, conceived and choreographed by Evi Souli.
In the summer of 2018, he played the lead role – alongside Maria Skoula – in a theater production of James Joyce’s “Ulysses” by Elephas Tiliensis.
In 2019, he wrote the music for a theater production of Sophocles’ “Philoctetes” by Elephas Tiliensis.
The summer of 2020 finds him working with a fresh group of musicians on new music, to be presented in 2021.
