Pavement was an American indie rock and alternative rock band formed in Stockton, California in 1989. They are one of the most influential and important bands to emerge from the American underground in the 90’s and are considered to be one of the best bands of the decade.
Pavement lasted until 1999 when lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Stephen Malkmus got tired of touring and being in a rock band.
The classic formation consisted of Stephen Malkmus (lead vocals and guitar), Scott Kannberg (guitar and vocals), Mark Ibold (bass), Steve West (drums) and Bob Nastanovich (percussion and backing vocals).
They briefly reunited in 2010 and 2020 just to play shows.
