About Paula Perry

Paula Perry is most known for her guest appearances on Masta Ace I.N.C. crew jams “Who U Jackin'?” from the group’s first album, May 1994’s Slaughtahouse and “Eastbound”, “The B-Side” & “Ain’t No Game” featured on the sophomore album, May 1995’s Sittin' On Chrome, both released under the Delicious Vinyl imprint. She subsequently released her 1996 single, “Paula’s Jam,” which became an underground hit.

In 1998, Paula released her follow-up single, “Extra, Extra,” produced by DJ Premier from her debut LP titled Tales From Fort Knox, the project pays homage to her birthplace and stomping ground Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The album is laced with beats from heavyweight hip-hop producers like Clark Kent, Easy Moe Bee and Masta Ace (under the pseudonym Ase One) and guest appearances by Bahamadia, Heather B., Nikki D, Brian McKnight, Kelly Price & Lost Boyz just to name a few.

Unfortunately, her debut effort did not gain enough mainstream attention to turn a profit due to her label, Loose Cannon Records, a division of PolyGram had folded. She eventually moved to Motown Records. Although Paula failed to garner commercial success as a solo artist. She did not let that deter her and continued to strive to create music for avid hip-hop heads. She released a couple of independent mixtapes of her own. My Way released in June 2009 and Godmommy, released the following month of the same year. Take Another Shot At It, which was later released in July of 2012.
