Patrick Wolf is the stage name of Patrick Denis Apps, a indie singer-songwriter from London known for his confessional vocals and era-bending musical style. He is classically trained in the violin, but plays a variety of instruments on his albums and in live shows.
His music falls under the chamber pop umbrella—marrying mainstream pop and rock with both traditional folk instrumentation and experimental genres such as electronica and noise. Lyrically, Wolf also takes on both the traditional and the modern, evoking Western mythology and folk imagery while satirizing modern politics and celebrating queer romance (Wolf himself is bisexual).
Since the start of his career in 2005, Wolf has released six albums and three EPs. The latest of which, 2012’s Sundark and Riverlight, is a collection of acoustic reimaginings of his most popular songs.
