Parker James Cannon – best known as the frontman of The Story So Far – was born on May 21, 1992 in Walnut Creek, California. His hometown is referenced heavily in his early work – specifically throughout the While You Were Sleeping EP and TSSF/Maker Split.
Cannon started the The Story So Far with Kelen Capener, Kevin Geyer, Kevin Ambrose, and Ryan Torf in Walnut Creek and released their initial 5 Songs EP on December 22, 2007.
Since then the band has released several albums including Proper Dose (2018) – in which Parker opened up about his opiate addiction and the trials of heavy touring.
Parker’s style is known for it’s in-your-face, howling vocals, finger-pointing, and swagger that has been credited as reviving the pop-punk genre in the early 2010s by giving it a more hardcore edge.
In 2014, Parker engaged in a hardcore style side-project, Snarl.
Parker was born with a condition called pectus excavatum that can be seen when shirtless at live shows. The condition is referred to as “this sunken chest” in “Closure” and “the dent of my chest” in “All Wrong”.
Parker has expressed that he believes Led Zeppelin to be the “greatest rock and roll band of all time.”
Consequently, TSSF often covers “Black Dog” at live shows.
