P.A.P.A.

About P.A.P.A.

P.A.P.A. is an indie alternative band comprised of Darren Weiss, also of Dawes, Girls, A Band, and Wires On Fire fame (principal songwriter singer, and drummer) and Danny Presant (bass). The duo hires additional musicians while touring. Their band name stems from Weiss' nickname for his grandfather.

Weiss and Presant met as kids, and had played in several previous bands together. P.A.P.A. formed while both were living in New York, directly after Weiss left Los Angeles-based band, Dawes.

After releasing an EP, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, in 2011, their debut LP, Tender Madness, was released on October 8th, 2013. According to Weiss, both albums were influenced by a drawn-out break-up.

Weiss has cited U2, A Tribe Called Quest, and Claude Debussy as influences, while Presant listed Bruce Springsteen, Ennio Marricone, and early G-funk as his.

P.A.P.A.’s second full-length album, Kick at the Dust, was released on September 16, 2016.
