onoken is a producer most well-known as a progenitor of the microgenre known as artcore; trance and happy hardcore blended with symphonic instrumentation.

Released in 2003, onoken’s Swell Strings laid the groundwork for what would become artcore through the late 2000s and early 2010s, propelled by the East Asian rhythm game community.

Since then, onoken has lived an immense life as a working composer, with credits from BEMANI (the rhythm game segment of Konami) to Kingdom Hearts, from anime like CHAOS;CHILD to advertisements for Canon, Volkswagen and more. Through all this, he’s found time to contribute to the indie rhythm game scene that gave him his start, with contributions to early mobile titles such as Rayark’s Cytus and Deemo.

In 2020, onoken released a remastered version of Swell Strings, and became active on his YouTube channel, where he occasionally streams chatting about his work.
