Olivier J. L. Heldens, better known by his stage name, Oliver Heldens, is a dutch DJ and electronic music producer from Rotterdam.
A known name in the electronic music scene since 2013, when he signed with Spinnin' Records, his first singles aimed the then-popular big room audience, with tracks like “Stinger” and “Thumper” (with Jacob van Hage). Not too late after, his late 2013 single “Gecko” caught the attention of fellow dutch DJ Tiësto, who signed him to his label Musical Freedom and re-released the track with vocals from british singer Becky Hill on June 23, 2014, reaching the top spot in UK Charts.
With his newly-found popularity, Heldens launched a weekly podcast titled Heldeep Radio in January 2014. The name, a mix between his name and the deep house genre, later evolved to become a brand, aiding the foundation of Heldeep Records in the following year. This newborn imprint focuses its resources on promoting bass-driven tech/deep/future house songs.
With the creation of Heldeep Records and its very first single, “Renegade Mastah,” Oliver Heldens revealed to be HI-LO, his very own underground and bassline driven project. Such audacity paid off: By running his own label, his own radio show, managing two projects and playing over 200 gigs in a single year, Oliver got the 8th position on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2016.
