Nullset, an alt-metal/rap-rock band from Framingham, Massachusetts, was originally known as Gangsta Bitch Barbie in the late 1990s. They released This Is Not A Test in 1998 under that name while developing a local following in the Boston area.
Grand Royal Records (owned by The Beastie Boys) signed the band in 2000, but they were soon forced by Mattel (owners of the Barbie doll toy trademark) to change their name. Grand Royal released the band’s self-titled album Nullset in 2001, but the label soon went bankrupt and the group disbanded. Former members of Nullset formed the band White.
Nullset later reunited to perform at the Reveille Reborn concert in 2008 and the 7th Rail Crew reunion show in 2010. In May 2012, Nullset released their first new album in eleven years I Call Zeus at The Middle East club in Cambridge, Massaschuetts and have performed occasional shows since.
