Urban contemporary duo Night & Day features the K-Ci & Jo-Jo-esque vocal team of Tony Martinez and Gasner “Gaz” Hughes, veterans of the ‘90s R&B scene who earned their break by contributing occasional songs to film soundtracks and performing as background vocalists for acts like MC Breed and Keith Sweat. The biggest of those soundtrack tunes, “Dante’s Girl,” appeared in The Wood in 1999, setting the stage for the release of Night & Day’s self-titled debut full-length in early 2000.
