About Nico Vega

Nico Vega is a Los Angeles based Alternative Rock band that was formed in 2005 by Michael Peña, Aja Volkman and Rich Koehler, on drums, vocals and guitar respectively. The band gets it’s name from the maiden name of Mike’s mother, and it was Aja and Mike that formed the band, though Mike left in 2007 to pursue a (very successful) career in acting, after only releasing an EP’s (chooseyourwordspoorly (2006) and the single Cocaine Cooked the Brain (2007)). He was replaced by a new drummer, Dan Epand. The band also took on a bassist, Jamila Weaver, from 2012-2013, who helped work on the EP ‘Fury Oh Fury’ (2013) and some songs from ‘Lead to Light’ (2014). As well as the aforementioned releases, they also released as 2009 eponymous album and ‘Nico Vega covers Rod Stewart’ in 2011. After releasing a few songs in 2015 and 2016, they are currently on an indefinite hiatus since mid-2016.
