Neuro, aka “Neuro NYC” is a progressive rock band bordering on goth and electronic pop. The band’s inception dates back as far as 1999, although the only album thus far came out in 2014 (“Mind Altar”).
As a live act, Neuro limited their gigs to NYC: CBGB’s, the Bat Cave, and hipster Brooklyn hotspots of the mid 2000s.
Singer and primary songwriter, Jesse Short, was born in Roswell, New Mexico; or perhaps “hatched” therein. Other members (and former members) include keyboardist Keith Hafer (and co-songwriter), guitarist Imkong Yaden, Turkish bassist Tolga Yetis, and drummer Rob Ricci of Phenobarbidoll.
Neuro was somewhat affiliated with the original “Off Wall Street Jam” on Murray Street, above Sonic Youth’s studios.
Steve Hansen of Hi-Top productions produced the record, along with Josh Margolis.
The second album is due out in 2024, dubbed “Sensory Overlord”.
