Neige is a French musician and the founder of the blackgaze band Alcest along with the now-defunct black metal band Amesoeurs. He is largely credited with creating the blackgaze genre, a portmanteau of black metal and shoegaze.

Neige has often spoken about visions he had as a child of an “otherworld,” which now serves as one of the main influences on his music. In an interview with Metal Hammer, he said he began Alcest as an attempt to put the world in his visions into musical form.

His real name is Stéphane Paut. His nickname, Neige, means “Snow” in French.
