Nancy Khadra is a Norwegian-Algerian singer-songwriter. She was born in Norway, but moved at a very young age and spent most of her life in the south of France before moving to Brussels two years ago.
Thanks to her grandparents, who brought jazz music into her life at an early age and encouraged her to start playing the guitar at the age of 8, she’s been putting her very own imprint on her compositions ever since.
In 2012, she started playing gigs all over France with her band Persian Rugs, where she’s still a member.
Due to her diverse cultural influences, she’s been inspired by artists from all over the world; growing up with Ella Fitzgerald, Warda, and Warren G, and now relating to artists such as Melody Gardot, Snoh Aalegra and Summer Walker, she’s been building her own universe over time.
For 2021, Nancy has been cooking up a 3-song-EP with French producer Vax 1. All three songs have been recorded in Vax 1‘s old home studio in Lyon, giving the EP a fairly intimite vibe. The closing track „Cherry Plum“ refers to the Bach flower of the same name, which is considered a remedy for impulsivity and loss of control. It is said to help find clarity in chaotic moments – exactly what you might need after an unfortunate love affair. Correlating with one another, the three songs unfold an obsessive love story thatin the end leaves you wondering, if there has ever been any connection at all.
