Naima Dziria, born Fatima-Zohra Graïmou in 1968 in Kouba, Algeria, is a celebrated Algerian singer known for her performances in chaâbi and hawzi music. Blind since birth, she studied at Algiers’ School for Young Blind Students before joining the city’s Conservatory of Music. She later became a member of El Fakhardjia, a renowned association dedicated to Algerian Arab-Andalusian music.
Naima Dziria was first discovered in 1983 after participating in the television talent show Alhan wa Chabab. Guided by her mentor, Saïd El-Ghobrini, a prominent figure in chaâbi music, she achieved widespread success in both hawzi and chaâbi genres. She is also recognized as a leading voice of the urban musical style Assimi, a fusion of Algerian Arab-Andalusian music and chaâbi, which gained popularity across the country.
