About MxPx

MxPx is an American pop/skate-punk band from Bremerton, Washington. Frontman Mike Herrera has played bass and sung lead vocals since the band’s formation in 1992 (under the name “Magnified Plaid”), when he and drummer Yuri Ruley were still in high school. The young band was signed to Christian rock label Tooth & Nail, which released its debut album Pokinatcha.

After that first LP, founding member Andy Husted left the band, and Herrera’s friend Tom Wisniewski replaced him on guitar. The trio of Herrera, Ruley, and Wisniewski formed the band’s lineup for more than 20 years; in 2016, Chris Adkins became a guitarist and backing vocalist for the group.

MxPx has released 12 studio albums and 4 EPs across many labels: Tooth & Nail, A&M, Fat Wreck Chords, SideOneDummy, and the band’s own Rock City Recording Company. Despite the group’s early presence in the Christian music scene, Herrera has since declared himself an agnostic. In addition to the band’s output, Herrera now hosts his own podcast.
