Mosawo (もさを。) is a Japanese singer-songwriter with a premise of “女性目線の恋愛ソング” (eng: Sings love songs from the female point of view). He started in February 2020 by posting his acoustic guitar plays to the original songs he wrote on TikTok, including “Kirakira” and “Gyutto.” The latter title was his debut single on the Japanese music scene, which was released in July 2020.
“Gyutto” first teased in March 2020 on his TikTok account, and became popular due to its sweet melody and singing voice. The song reached #1 on the LINE MUSIC Weekly and Spotify Viral Charts in 2020, and had surpassed 100 million streams in August 2021.
Following the debut song’s success, he kept on striving and kept delivering his original songs to his listeners, including commercial songs and Japanese media’s theme songs. “Caramel” was served as the opening theme song for the first season of Japanese drama 美しい彼 (My Beautiful Man), followed by “Kinmokusei” as the second season’s and the movie’s theme song.
“Cider” was used as a promotional song for the sixth volume’s sale of the manga Ao no Hako, in collaboration with JUMP. There is also “1 Minute 1 Second,” which was used as the commercial song for an insurance company, TMN Anshin.
Mosawo released his first album on December 7, 2022, titled こいのうた (Koinouta). It comprises his past singles, a new song “Namidayuki” and a bonus song, titled “Wasuremono.” The last title had been priorly released on his YouTube as an acoustic short version in 2018.
In 2023, he released “Brownie,” which was used as a commercial song for the chocolate brand Bourbon’s product, “濃厚チョコブラウニー.”
