MOOG is the stage name of Australian composer, musician, producer, and film maker Blair Joscelyne.
Born on the island state of Tasmania, MOOG comes from a family well versed in music; his father was a radio presenter, his mother studied violin and his paternal great grandfather played piano and pipe organs.
MOOG’s fascination with music began early; he started playing keyboards when he was 5 and one of his first projects was rearranging the notes of ‘Mary had a little lamb’ because “ I thought it sounded better when played backwards.”
MOOG’s journey into music production was helped by both parents; for his 8th birthday, MOOG’s mother organised formal piano lessons. His fathers contribution was “a reel-to-reel 4 track recorder that he picked up from the radio station where he worked.”
The first attempts at actual recording were made using a $50 mixing desk and $10 microphone from Dick Smith. Later in his teenage years MOOG studied piano at a local Conservatorium, played drums in a metal band and spliced analogue tapes.
After finished school MOOG completed a music degree majoring in Composition and Music Technology, with honours added to the top of that.
MOOG’s body of work is extensive and diverse, featuring energetic, dance tracks, base heavy cruising songs and slow contemplative pieces.
While accomplished as a musician MOOG is better known on the Internet as co-host of the online car show Mighty Car Mods. With long time friend and fellow car nut Marty Mulholland.
