Monique Bingham is an American dance/electronic singer hailing from Brooklyn, New York. She got her start singing with acid jazz band Abstract Truth, and together they recorded their first single, “Get Another Plan,” which was released on April 11, 1996, the song received national and international critical acclaim. The record got her noticed and licensed by legendary Talkin' Loud UK label founder Gilles Peterson in 1996. The band released their second follow up single, March 1998’s “We Had a Thing,” which became a transnational hit, spawning a remix from German born house producer, Matthias Heilbronn and April 2004’s collaborative hit, “Go Getter” and plenty of other infectious house/soul remixes.
Following this interest eventually led her to become a major fixture on house classics and her debut album, July 2016’s Best of the Last/Anthology: 1995-2015, featured twenty-six electro/house music tracks from renowned DJ’s Louie Vega, Todd Terry and Black Coffee. Monique’s infectious, irresistible, melodic vocals and optimistic lyrics have garnered her unanimous praise, highest demand and long-term collaborations from electro house/deep house extraordinaire Kerri Chandler, Jellybean Benitez, Karizma and Ralf Gum.
Monique’s two-decade long underground career has made her a permanent staple in the house scene, internationally known and cherished by house music lovers from all over the globe. Monique has remained highly respected amongst her peers, very humble by the honor and down to earth to her fans and takes appreciative notice,
After 20 years of making music I almost feel like I’m just getting started. I have so much more to say and in some ways I’m more excited now than I was back in ’95. The future is wide open. – Monique Bingham
