Linnéa Handberg, or Miss Papaya, is a Danish bubblegum pop artist. The singer has spawned massive hits such as “Hero” and “Pink Dinosaur”, that appeared on Dance Dance Revolution. She’s also known for being behind the Bambee project, helping to write many songs for her.
The singer was born on October 22 in Denmark, but was mostly raised in the UK. Papaya has always had a fond for music and began her career in the early 90s. Aqua was her main inspiration and together with her producer, Honeycutt, “Miss Papaya was born.
The first single, “Jingle Bells” was a minor hit, but the next single, “Hero” was a success. This helped put Papaya on the map. Due to the success of “Hero”, Papaya worked on her debut album, Pink, which was released in 1998. The album helped Papaya become a name in Denmark! After the album, Papaya released the singles, “Supergirl” and “Operator”. Despite the singles being successful, the bubblegum pop industry was changing.
In 1999, Papaya quitted her contract with both her label and producer. She then released her next album This Is Who I Am under her real name. The album recieved positive praise by both her fans and critics. As of now, Papaya continues to write songs for other artists and hasn’t given up completely on bubblegum pop, but still does mature projects.
