Haitian-American rapper/ producer/ songwriter/ vocalist Mike Classic was born and raised in Queens, New York and began rapping at age 14. Drawing on the influence of some of the pillars of East Coast hip hop, Classic developed his own rap style and also worked tirelessly learning music production and beatmaking. By the beginning of the 2010s, he’d released a few notable singles, including “Whole Different Lane,” which featured guest verses from his friend French Montana. The single was included on his 2012 mixtape Where Amazing Happens, which also featured a guest appearance from Tolu and production by Track4merz. Classic had a few quiet years but returned strong with a string of new tracks such as 2016’s “Lowkey (On the Low)” and 2017’s breakout track “Woosah,” which featured production from kAui. ~ Fred Thomas
