Miguel Cervantes is a Mexican-American actor that has starred in many Broadway and stage productions, such as American Idiot (Broadway), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Hamilton in Chicago, and currently Hamilton on Broadway, portraying Alexander Hamilton. He was born in Texas and moved to Chicago for a job, landing the role of a lifetime, Alexander Hamilton in the soon-to-open Hamilton in Chicago. There he would gain attention from many, including Chicago’s mayor and even Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the show Hamilton. In 2017, his daughter Adelaide was born, and was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a form of epilepsy that currently has no cure. He would then raise money for C.U.R.E (Citizens united for research in epilepsy), with a campaign named “My Shot!”, a reference to the show Hamilton’s third number, “My Shot” to help find cures to epilepsy, and so people wouldn’t have to go through the painful experience he did with his late daughter. His son Jackson, his wife Kelly, and himself are now living a happy life, with a home in Chicago and a home in New York. Miguel Cervantes portrayed Hamilton for the entirety of the Hamilton in Chicago’s run, and we can’t wait to see what he shows us on Broadway.
