Originally composed of Self 1 (who later changed his name to I Self Devine), DJ Kool Akiem and TruthHaze, The Micranots are pioneers of Twin Cities hip hop, active since the early 90s.
In 1994, TruthMaze departed the group, and Micranots relocated in Atlanta.

After a period of affiliation with Sub Verse Music, they returned to Minneapolis in 2003 and signed with Rhymesayers Entertainment.
