Yes, Michael John Kells Fleetwood is the founder, drummer, and half-eponym of Fleetwood Mac. But he’s also a man, with feelings, hopes and dreams…prick him, does he not bleed?
A Brief History of Mick Fleetwood
• Born in Redruth (probably a place in England)
• Bored by stupid schools
• Parents bought him a drum kit. Smart move.
• Growed up. Moved to London near Peter Bardens. future keyboardist of Camel. Joined Bardens' band, The Cheynes. Nobody cared.
• Joined The Bo Street Runners, a failed pop band on its way out.
• Joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, his best idea since the whole drumkit thing. Biggest blues-rock incubator in the entire British Blues movement.
• Along with Bluesbreakers bandmate John McVie, formed…wait for it…Fleetwood Mac. McVie thinks that the “Mac” part is named after him. But Mr. Fleetwood knows it’s just “Mick” spelled funny.
• Walked the earth, met people, got into adventures. Like Kane, in Kung Fu.
