Melanie Anne Safka-Schekeryk (February 3, 1947 – January 23, 2024), known by her stage name, Melanie, was an American singer-songwriter, born in New York City, New York, U.S. She gained commercial success for her single “Brand New Key”, which was released in October of 1971. Throughout her career, Melanie released a total of twenty-eight studio albums and fifty-nine singles.
