Born in the mountains of Clarksburg, West Virginia to Congolese parents, singer/songwriter Medi Kay has always had a passion for connecting to people across cultural backgrounds.
Drawing his inspiration from the likes of Mali Music, Chandler Moore, Brandy, Makoma, and The Walls Group, the young vocalist presents a diverse sound to his listeners, offering a unique blend with elements of pop, hip-hop, gospel, and afrobeats. Since the start of his musical journey, he has recorded and performed with artists across the world, including Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Chandler Moore, We The Kingdom, Dena Mwana, Sandra Mbuyi, Crowder, and Maverick City Music.
His debut single with Sandra Mbuyi, “Voici La Fin,” was met with international acclaim and became an anthem of hope for listeners in the United States, Canada, France, Belgium, South Africa, D.R. Congo, and Australia. His next single, “My Maker” was also well received and continues to be celebrated as a favorite for listeners in Europe and across the African diaspora. In 2020, Medi released his first EP, “Here On Earth.”
Currently based in Blacksburg, Virginia, Medi is a member of the Maverick City Music Choir, performing and recording across the East Coast. He is at work on his debut album, which he hopes will embody his love for kingdom worship–worship that reflects what is seen in heaven.
