McBride & the Ride was a country band that was founded in 1989 by Terry McBride (lead vocals & bass guitar), Ray Herndon (background vocals, guitar & dobro) & Billy Thomas (background vocals, drums/percussion). In 1994 the label, MCA Nashville, removed Ray Herndon & Billy Thomas and renamed the band Terry McBride & the Ride. They replaced Herndon & Thomas with Keith Edwards on drums; Kenny Vaughan on electric guitar; Gary Morse on steel guitar; Jeff Roach on keyboards & Randy Frazier on bass guitar. Jeff Roach was later replaced by Rick Gerken and Kenny Vaughan by Bob Britt. The group then disbanded in 1995. In 2000 Terry McBride, Billy Thomas & Ray Herndon reunited as McBride & the Ride before splitting up again some two years later.
