One of early Hollywood’s most acclaimed composers, Max Steiner (1888-1971) was born in Austria but emigrated at an early age, first to England and then to America. He won three Academy Awards and scored such films as King Kong, Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
