Matt Underwood

Matthew Underwood is a British songwriter, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who is a member of the pop alternative group The Swoons. Matt was first immersed in the world of songwriting whilst studying at Berklee College of Music learning the art of lyric writing from acclaimed author and teacher Pat Pattison. Graduating with the highest honors in songwriting Matt moved to Los Angeles in which he began to work with local artists developing his songwriting chops but also learning more about production and engineering. In the past few years he has co-written with Eg White, Jake Gosling, Sacha Skarbek, Jonathan Quarmby, Neil Ormandy, Jin Jin and produced debut works alongside his frequented production partner Giacomo Timbrello for Johann Hedemann, damnboy! and Trevor Myall. He is currently working on producing and co-writing the debut EP ‘Recovery’ for his band The Swoons in which he is a member with fellow classmates and Berklee alumni Tony Ann and Trevor de Verteuil. Matt’s writing style incorporates honest storytelling, poignant metaphors and captivating melodies whilst sonically he loves to experiment with organic, ambient and home recorded textures.
