Matchbook Romance (The Getaway) is a Pop-Punk band formed in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1997 by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Jordan, guitarist Ryan DePaulo, bassist Ryan Kienle and drummer Aaron Stern.
The quartet spent three years recording a group of demos that would attract the attention of Epitaph president Brett Gurewitz who produced their first real recording, the “West For Wishing” EP, in 2003. In September, that same year, the band released its first full-length album, “Stories And Alibis”, it reached the #26 spot on The Billboard Top Independent chart backed by the single “My Eyes Burn”.
After non-stop gigging, Matchbook Romance returned in February 2006 with their sophomore effort, “Voices”. The CD, which contained the single “Monsters”, hit #2 on the U.S. Independent chart and reached #43 The Billboard 200.
