Martin Newell is an English singer-songwriter and poet from Wivenhoe, Essex. Newell is best known as the lead singer of indie band Cleaners from Venus, which he co-founded with Lawrence “Lol” Elliot in 1980. He is also recognised as a pioneer of DIY music and cassette culture.
