Mark Whalen is an up-and-coming artist from Detroit, Michigan. He’s 18 years old, and currently enrolled as a freshmen at Wayne State University, in Detroit.
His first album, “Someone To Be” debuted in the summer of 2017.
In an email-interview, Mark had this to say…
“Both of my parents are musicians so I grew up listening and playing music all my life. I really got into making music when I was 14. My dad bought me an audio interface and a mic for my birthday and I just started recording ideas and stuff. I still have all the old songs that I recorded when I was younger, most of them are pretty bad and poorly recorded but its nice to listen to them sometimes to see where I started. From there I just kept going and learning new recording techniques and experimenting with sounds I liked. The bands and artists that made me want to make music are, Deerhunter, The Strokes, Mac Demarco, Girls, and Marvin Gaye. (There are a lot more, but those are the main artists that I can think of that had a big impact on me)”
