Mark Barkan (July 4th, 1934 – May 8th 2020) was an American songwriter and producer. Barkan was best known for writing many popular songs, such as “I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter” & “Pretty Flamingo”. Barkan was the musical director for the 1968 Saturday-morning show The Banana Splits Adventure Hour, co-writing the show’s theme song, “The Tra La La Song” with Ritchie Adams. Adams and Barkan had previously worked together on songs for The Archies. Barkan also produced one of the first psychedelic rock albums, Psychedelic Moods by The Deep. Mark Barkan died on May 8th, 2020 at the age of 85 from undisclosed causes.
