About Marissa Paternoster

Marissa Paternoster (born August 1, 1986) is a singer and guitarist from Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Together with Jarrett Dougherty and “King” Mike Abbate, she formed the punk band Screaming Females in 2005 while attending Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, NJ. New Brunswick is know for its DIY music scene and Screaming Females continue to support local bands and music venues.

As a solo artist, she performs under the name Noun, supported live by Miranda Taylor and Mark Bronzino. She released her first solo album under her own name, Peace Meter, in 2021.

Paternoster is also part of Bad Canoes, a punk band from Philadelphia, PA.

In a 2012 list she was named the 77th greatest guitarist of all time by Spin magazine.
