Aryan Ashtiani, better known by his stage name Mareux, is a darkwave musician from Los Angeles best known for his 2021 cover of The Cure’s 1987 track “The Perfect Girl”.

Ashtiani began a career of making darkwave music in 2012 after listening to fellow darkwave artist TR/ST’s debut self-titled album TRST, and released an EP, Decade, in 2013. However, he then went on hiatus in 2015, unimpressed with his music, with him instead pursuing a career in medicine, being very off-and-on in producing music. It was in 2021 that one of his tracks became extremely popular. It was his cover of “The Perfect Girl”, garnering 2.4 billion views across various videos as of April 2022. Since then, he’s continued producing music, eventually releasing his debut album Lovers From The Past in May 2023.
