Maqel Colon, known simply as Maqel, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Concord, California. He is known for his versatile and melodic sound, fusing styles of rap and pop-rock. He gained an interest in making music in the seventh grade, eventually releasing his first song during his freshman year in high school.
Maqel grew in popularity throughout 2019, releasing various singles like “Shmobba,” “She Said,” and “City Lights.” After releasing the singles “My Type” and “For the Worse,” he released his debut studio album, Look Mom… I Can Fly!, on August 1, 2019.
Maqel continued to grow throughout 2020, releasing singles like “Grim Reaper,” “Revenge,” and “Not the One.” On July 31, 2020, Maqel released his full-length studio mixtape Distraction Was a Friend of Mine, which took a more pop-rock approach than the hip-hop oriented Look Mom… I Can Fly!
