About Mandy Moore

Amanda Leigh Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She rose to fame in the late 1990s with her debut single, “Candy”. The song was a commercial success, peaking at #41 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was therefore compared to the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson.

In 1999, Moore released her debut studio album, So Real, and it was certified platinum by the RIAA, and has sold 1.0 million copies since its release. She was also an opening act for boy bands, including The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC.

Her second studio album, I Wanna Be with You, was released in 2000, and spawned her only top 40 single in the US to date, which is the title track.

In 2001, Mandy Moore released her self-titled third studio album, Mandy Moore, and embraced a more mature sound and developed a whole new image, departing from the bubblegum pop sound and teen pop image that she developed from her first two albums.

2001 also saw the beginning of her acting career, with a minor voice role in Dr. Dolittle 2, and also co-starring with Anne Hathaway in the teen comedy film, The Princess Diaries, based of Meg Caboot’s novel series of the same name.

In 2002, Mandy Moore received recognition for her starring role in the romantic teen comedy drama film, A Walk to Remember, opposite Shane West.

Since then, Moore has starred in other films, such as Chasing Liberty (2004), Racing Stripes (2005), Because I Said So (2007), License to Wed (2007), Love. Wedding. Marriage (2011), 47 Meters Down (2017), The Darkest Minds (2018), and Midway (2019).

In 2003, Mandy Moore released her fourth studio album and first cover album, Coverage, which featured songs from the 1970s and 1980s that she covered. The album peaked to #14 on the Billboard 200 album charts, becoming her biggest charting album to date.

Since then, she subsequently released her fifth and sixth studio albums, Wild Hope (2007) and Amanda Leigh (2009).

Moore also continued her voice acting career by starring in the Disney animated fantasy musical comedy film, Tangled (2010), the short film, Tangled Ever After (2012), the Disney Channel television film, Tangled: Before Ever After (2017), and the Disney Channel animated series, Tangled: The Series (2017-2020).

As of 2016, Moore starred in the NBC family comedy drama series, This Is Us. She has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

2020 saw the singer-turned-actress’s return in music with her first studio album in 11 years, following 2009’s Amanda Leigh, and her seventh overall titled Silver Landings.

Outside of singing and acting, Mandy Moore has also been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.
