M.Y.M.P are a five-man band from the Philippines known for their infectious, acoustic pop ballads that gained local notoriety in the mid-2000s.
Founded in 1995 by Chin Alcantara when he made the band name as a tribute to his deceased mother, the band remained in relative obscurity until they were discovered by Raymund Ryan Santes, a station manager of a local radio station, 93.9 iFM. Upon being discovered and signing to Ivory Music, the band shelled out five studio albums (Soulful Acoustic, Beyond Acoustic, Versions, New Horizon, Now) and a live album (Live at the Music Museum). Some of the hits that came out of this period were songs such as “Tell Me Where It Hurts”, and “Kailan”.
The band is known for having a rotating cast of members aside from Chin Alcantara. As of 2020, they’ve had a total of four different vocalists. Nina, Juris Fernandez, and Jana Laraza previously performed female vocals for the band. Their current lead female vocalist is Carmela Ravanilla.
