The band’s name was inspired by now-retired American basketball player Lucious Jackson. The original lineup consisted of bassist/vocalist, Jill Cunniff, lead guitarist/vocalist, Gabrielle Glaser, and keyboardist/vocalist Vivian Trimble. Drummer Kate Schellenbach, joined the band midway through recording of their debut album, In Search of Manny. Vivian Trimble left the group in 1998.
