Wener was the frontwoman and writer/co-writer of most of the songs for the 90s Britpop band Sleeper.
After three albums and the breakup of the band in 1998, Wener moved on to a career as a writer, putting out four novels to date.
She is married to the former drummer of Sleeper, Andy MacLure. They have a son and a daughter.
From Wener’s own site:
Louise Wener was the lead singer of the band Sleeper and one of Britpop’s biggest female stars. She travelled the world at the height of their fame playing to hundreds of thousands and living the high life.
In the early 90s Sleeper were briefly lost to a world of glitter, cocaine, paranoia, comically petty squabbles and warped music industry logic. They had three top ten albums, including the platinum-selling The It Girl before disbanding in 1998.
Louise has since written four acclaimed novels and lives in Brighton with her husband and daughter."
