A New Orleans jazz band that recorded from 1925-1927, and in 1928 with an almost entirely new cast. The original Hot Five were: Louis Armstrong on the trumpet, Lil Hardin Armstrong on the piano, Johnny St. Cyr on the banjo, Kid Ory on trombone, and Johnny Dodds on the clarient. All of their recordings took place in Okeh’s Recording Studio, Chicago, IL.
