Standing only 4'10", Lorenz Hart (1895-1943) wrote some of the most brilliant song lyrics of his time. Born to Jewish immigrant parents, he met Richard Rodgers at Columbia University. Their songwriting partnership survived early struggles to achieve four wildly successful Broadway musicals during the 1930s. Suffering from alcoholism and depression, Hart would frequently disappear for weeks at a time on benders that involved violent anonymous sex with men. His partnership with Rodgers dissolved shortly before his death.
