About Lootpack

Lootpack was formed in 1990 in Oxnard, California. The trio consists of Madlib, Wildchild, and DJ Romes, who all grew up through high school together.

The group is also part of the West Coast hip hop collective, Likwit Crew. They first appeared on wax on “Turn the Party Out” from Tha Alkaholiks' debut, and had a track on the ‘Liks follow-up. This lead them to record the “Psyche Move” EP in 1996, which in turn caught the ear of Peanut Butter Wolf, who had just started up Stones Throw Records.

The pack’s 1999 debut masterpiece, Soundpieces: Da Antidote!, was the result after joining the label. A follow-up has yet to have been released by the trio. Since then DJ Romes has released, the Hamburger Hater Breaks record in 2001, Madlib has produced many albums, most of which being concept albums under his varying monikers; Quasimoto, DJ Rels and Yesterdays New Quintet. Wildchild’s 2003 album, Secondary Protocol featured all Lootpack members, which is the closest thing to a second Lootpack album.
