About 林夕 (Lin Xi)

Lin Xi (real name Albert Leung, born December 7th, 1961), is a Hong Kong lyricist who is well-known for composing lyrics very quickly, admitting on TVB’s show Be My Guest that his fastest record for writing the complete lyrics to a song is 45 minutes.

He is best known for his work with Faye Wong, but he has also worked with artists like Leslie Cheung and Andy Chua. Additionally, he composed the lyrics for “Beijing Welcomes You”, the feature song for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. According to the interviewer Du Lijun, Lin Xi’s “works vary from ancient Chinese style to the modern style, in Cantonese or in Mandarin, [and he is] good at expressing deep meaning through simple words [because] he is an acute observer and vivid recorder of city life.”
