Leslie Barbara Carter Ashton (June 8, 1986 – January 31, 2012) was an American model and singer born in Tampa, Florida. She is also the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter.

In 1999, Carter signed a record deal with Dreamworks Records, and began recording her first album. The album was set to be released in June of 2000, however, the album was delayed because her record label, Dreamworks, wanted to test her fan base before releasing the record in order to insure its success. In early 2001, Carter released her debut and only single, “Like Wow!”, and it also appeared on the soundtrack to the 2001 comedy film, Shrek. The song was peaked to #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and received minor airplay.

Her debut album of the same name was then set for an April 10, 2001 release date, however, due to the lead single’s low success and the number of reported problems from the set of her first music video, the album was eventually shelved, and Carter was dropped from her record label, Dreamworks. Promotional copies of the album eventually became available online, and the album itself eventually leaked online.

By the end of 2005, Carter started a small tour in Canada, and had a showcase in early 2006. The songs she performed on the tour had her abandoning the bubblegum pop sound and teen pop image she developed during the making of her intended debut album. Later that year, she formed a band called The Other Half, however, three years later, in September of 2009, the band disbanded.

On January 31, 2012, at the age of 25, Leslie Carter was found unresponsive at her father’s house in Mayville, New York, and was pronounced dead at a hospital in Westfield, New York. According to various police reports, the cause of her death was due to an overdose of prescription medications and suffering from bipolar disorder.
